This recipe replaces the leading store bought heartsmart biscuit mix. VERY easy to make and keeps in your fridge for a LONG time, however I have yet to see it last longer than a week! We use A LOT of this stuff!!
Heartsmart Baking mix
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 c whole wheat flour
1/2 c dry buttermilk
3/4 t salt
2 T baking powder
1/4 c light margarine
In a large bowl blend the flours, dry buttermilk, salt and baking powder until incorporated. Next cut in the margarine with your fingers. It's the easiest way to do it so don't be afraid to get a little messy!! Store your biscuit mix in an airtight container in the fridge. I have heard that if you do not, your mix will spoil. It can be stored in the fridge for up to four weeks, however it probably won't last very long!
I will make sure to post more recipes using this wonderful mix so you can get the idea of how to use it! Enjoy!!
